Abstract

The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between self- confidence and anxiety. The study sample consists of 434 male and female high school students. All participating students undertook a self- confidence test designed by the researcher. Several measurements, adopted from Spillberg (translated by Mohammed Altoyab) were utilized to test anxiety levels. The results found indicated that there is a signification connection between self- confidence and test anxiety. While, no statistical significance was found between the two genders in relation to self- confidence, significance was found in connection with test anxiety, as male students gained the highest mean score. In a one- way ANOVA by age by self- confidence, significance was found as the older age group displayed the most confidence. Finally, the results showed anegetive relationship between self- confidence and test anxiety. The statistics show that the higher the self- confidence level, the more anxiety was reflected; hence low self- confidence showed low anxiety levels
