Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the degree of professional pressures as a predictive index of the symptoms of psychosomatic disorders among middle school teachers in the State of Kuwait. Additionally, the study aimed to differences in that degree according to some demographical variables (age, specialization, marital status and years of experience). Sample consisted of (466) middle teachers was selected randomly. Professional pressures and psychosomatic symptoms scales used to collect data form respondents. The results indicated that the degree of professional pressures among the teachers was high with a mean of (3.50). While showed that the degree of psychosomatic symptoms was very low with a mean of (1.71).

The study also showed the possibility of predicting psychosomatic symptoms moderatly by relying on the degrees of professional pressures of the teachers. However, the results indicated that there were no differences in the degree of professional pressures and psychosomatic symptoms in the female teachers’ means according to the study variables (age, specialization, marital status, and years of teaching experience). Researcher recommended the need for more efforts toward providing teachers with knowledge and train them to acquire skills to deal and minimize job pressures' affect and overcome them.
